 | Europe Reviews | Tips 1 - 10 of 281 | | After leaving Lido Di Jesolo, we headed west on A4 through Padova, Verona and Brescia, then A21 and A7 south towards Genoa (Genova). We drove along the Italian Riviera Coast to Savona, our next destination. We decided to camp for two days at CAMPING PINEO MARE in Ceriale(Savona),which by the way is still there. At the time it was owned by two Dutch brothers. I remember very well that we were packed in like sardines and our tent lines criss-crossed each other. I still have the bill in my scrapbook and the price was 63,800 Italian Lire ($63.80 CDN) Pretty expensive real estate. We found a beautiful campground in Umhausen, which is 1036 metres above sea level. We stayed at the ALPEN CAMPING campground for two days. It was in a valley between two mountains --just beautiful. I still remember some of the other campers watching us in awe as we unloaded our little car and set up our meagre camp site. Four people in a little tent while most of them were in their trailers with their radios and T.V.s . I'm sure they thought we were the crazy Canucks.
I still have the bill from Alpen Camping in my scrapbook. The total was 322 Austrian schillings ( one Austrian schilling=.10 Canadian) Leave a Comment

Remember that this was a hotel we stayed in 1986. The PACIFIC HOTEL was a great location and a great price. It was walking distance to most of the major attractions in Paris. I remember that our floor had to share the bathroom and shower. Since we had three rooms on that floor, it wasn't such a big deal. I still have the bill from the Hotel and the price for two nights then was 1536 French Francs ($307.20 CDN). After we left Oetz, Austria, we headed south through the Brenner Pass (120 schillings or $12.00 CDN). We took the A22 south through Bolzano and heade for our next destination--Venezia (Venice). We found a campground in Lido Di Jesolo, which is east of Venice. Located on the Adriatic Sea, we camped at CAMPING INTERNATIONAL for two nights. I still have my bill from the campground in my scrapbook. It was 54,000 Italian Lire ($54.00 CDN) which is pretty steep for 1986. Leave a Comment

Hotel Weisses Rössel is the most famous hotel in St.Wolfgang. It is the one, that is mentioned in the famous operetta by R.Benatzky. The hotel is a 5star-hotel with all the comfort you may expect !
Have a look for the great panorama you will have from the terrace of the hotel. They even have a swimmingpool built into the lake and also heated in wintertime with 30 degrees celcius !! (you might see it, when you click on my pic ! ) I took this pic at the terrace of the church, where you may look down to the hotel. If you need a piece of peace, you'll find it in Landhaus Meingast, in the zone of the Mondsee. The people there will treat you friendly. Si teniu la necessitat d'una mica de pau, la trobareu a la casa de turisme agrari Meingast, a la zona el Mondsee. La gent d'allŕ és realment amable.
There's cleen and enough big rooms. The house is in the middle of the nature. There's also a little pool. Hi han habitacions netes i prou grans. La casa estŕ al mig de la natura. Hi ha, a més a més, una petita piscina. Leave a Comment Theme: Pension/GuesthousePrice: US$20-40 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageDirections: Salzkammergut, in Austria

I stayed at the Golden Tulip Barbizon Palace hotel. It is listed as a 5 Star deluxe class hotel which was built in 1988. It is in a great location in the oldest part of Amsterdam and in the heart of the city overlooking the central station. The main entertainment and shopping area is only a stones throw away. I have to say that after suffering the 'continental breakfast' for days (so typical of an organised tour), this hotel put on the very best breakfast of the whole trip. I remember it so vividly. There was a wonderful assortment of muesli, fruit, breads and pastries as well as hot dishes (which I didn't have). Not a hard bread roll in sight!. .
The exterior of the building has been partly built from the facades of 19 historic buildings most of which date from the 17th century. . Leave a Comment Theme: HotelAddress: Prins Hendrikkade 59-72 NL 1012AD AmsterdamDirections: (20kms to the airport)

The Hotel is almost a landmark in Weggis which is situated at the foothills of Rigi in a lovely little village setting. The hotel is right on the lake and has some wonderful views especially at night. There is a Jazz Bar, Panoramic Restaurant. .
We had the little box of Swiss chocolates in our room as well and were in the older more detached part of the hotel - not the main block. It was almost like living in a house. . Leave a Comment Theme: HotelAddress: 6353 Weggis, Lucerne, Switzerland

The Meridien Part-Dieu formerly the Pullman Hotel)**** This is where I stayed, right in the town centre. It is the highest hotel in Europe above the city at a height of 108m, and has exceptional views over Notre dame de Fourviere and the Mont Blanc. The underground is only 200 metres away. . When I was there I stayed at the Hotel President. I'm not sure whether it is still there or under the same name but it was small and very comfortable. I have a feeling that it was to do with being a monastry at one time Leave a Comment Theme: HotelAddress: Via della Piazzola, 36 bis 50133 Firenze (FI)
